How to refer

Make a personal introduction

Email or call Jonathan directly. You need not name your client at this stage.

We undertake a clinical assessment

Our clinical lead reviews suitability, usually within 24–48 hours, and speaks with the referring clinician where one is involved. Where we are not the right setting, we say so and suggest alternatives.

We request consent for admission

The decision to come is the guest’s own. Once agreed, we coordinate arrival, travel and security with you or your team, whether the guest is travelling from elsewhere in the UK or from overseas.

Curated discharge & handover

Continuing care is arranged before departure with the guest’s own clinicians, in the UK or abroad.

Urgent admissions can often be arranged within days, subject to clinical assessment. Let us know if there is an urgency and Jonathan will respond as soon as practically possible.

What we need, and what is protected

  • Needed for assessment: the nature of the concern, relevant medical history and current medication, any risk considerations and the referring clinician’s details where applicable. A name is not required until admission is agreed.
  • Protected throughout: the guest’s identity, presence and clinical record. Information you share is held by the clinical team on a need-to-know basis and never passed on to anyone without the guest’s consent.

What you will hear, and what you won’t

  • You will hear: confirmation of admission, if the guest consents; agreed updates at a frequency the guest chooses and a discharge summary for the referring clinician.
  • You won’t hear: clinical detail beyond what the guest has authorised. If a guest withdraws consent, we will confirm nothing further, including whether they remain with us. Referrers should expect this and prepare families for it.

Commercial arrangements

Montrose Retreats does not pay referral fees or commissions. Recommendations are made in the client’s interest alone.

What we ask of referrers

That the decision to come is the guest’s own. Care imposed rarely holds. Where someone is hesitant, our clinical lead is happy to speak with them privately, without obligation.
